THE STORY BEHIND THE BATTLE OF FUZZY SLIPPERS
Nathalie Parel-May is a policewoman on
my squad. She has been with us just over a year. She grew up in Switzerland.
She has a black belt in Karate. Emma Hyde is also a policewoman on my squad
and has been with us less than a year. Prior to joining us she was a court
reporter and became one of the star witnesses in the Jillian Guess trial.
.
Anyway, the two have teamed up as partners
and on this fateful night attended one of the most routine of calls, an
assistance requested. The arrived to find a little old lady waiting to
talk to them. I never did find out what the request for their assistance
was. Well this little old lady, both Nathalie and Emma insist was 65, however
other members of our squad insist that she looked more like 80. An 80 year
old makes for a much better story so I chose to go with that report.
.
Emma and Nathalie are dealing with the
lady and attempting to deal with whatever the problem is when the lady
gets very angry and launches a kick at the two. The kick connects with
the shin of Nathalie and the fight is on. They very quickly get her under
control and she is arrested and a charge of Assaulting a Police Officer
is requested against her. She spends the night in jail, and in typically
timid fashion, our crown counsel refuses to proceed with charges against
the lady due to her age. She is released and sent home.
.
Of course, the teasing immediately starts
the next day from members of the squad. I pick up the story and the poem
is born.
