Fight Night
.
This story starts routinely,
as many often do,
Everything had been so calm,
in the Downtown Eastside zoo.
Charlene Vilkas and Ken Lemckurt,
were down there riding herd,
When suddenly she mentioned,
the dreaded “quiet” word.
.
Everything exploded, there were
fight calls everywhere,
Ken then quickly spotted, a
nasty scrapping pair.
The suspect ran across the street,
Ken jumped from the car,
Foot pursuit was over fast, they
didn’t get too far.
.
Bracelets at the ready, and
his rights card clutched in fist,
The story then begins to take,
an unexpected twist.
A friend is yapping up a storm,
as they stand outside a door,
Ken towers over everyone, a
hulking six foot four.
.
He warns about obstruction, to
send the mouthy one away,
But then the talker makes a
move, it’s time to make a play.
The punch it rockets skyward,
colliding with his face,
He stood there like a mountain,
but his jaw was out of place.
.
A whirling dervish on the loose,
all legs and feet and hair,
The prize fight of the century,
conducted by this pair.
It really was a mismatch, and
Ken was on a roll,
Soon the peace had been restored,
the good guys in control.
.
The puncher quickly trussed up,
as they stood there in the rain,
Ken standing there, looked quite
amused, even though he was in pain.
Because the one who hit him,
and started all this fun,
Ninety pounds of female, who
stands in at five foot one.
