How to Use This Site

by

Albert Peter Pacelli

(Its Creator and the Author of the book, The Speculator's Edge)

I started this site as a personal homepage, because I found that no existing financial website, however large and well-financed, could succintly provide all the financial information I needed. When I entered Bloomberg or CBS MarketWatch or any other site, I quickly felt as if I were in a box, and I wondered what I was missing outside it. Did the newspage really cover everything? Were the quotes accurate and up to date? Couldn't I get clear charts without a lot of indicators that just muddied up the picture?

Most frustrating of all was that it was unwieldy to review completely a single, given area (e.g., news, quotes, commentary) at a time.

This website has evolved from my personal financial homesite which I created to enable me to address the markets, one subject at a time. Although I have added much content (some of which is not especially interesting to me) in order to broaden the utility of the website for others, I have tried to stay true to that original design.

The website is designed to enable you to answer the three critical questions for investment success: where are we in the markets (e.g., Quotes, News and Market Recaps)? what is discounted by the markets already (e.g., What They're Saying and Doing (Pacelli, excluded, of course), Weather and USDA Reports)? where are the markets going (e.g., Economic and Statistical Data)?

The intent is to facilitate daily use by starting at the first pages on the menu with news and quotes (you can't evaluate anything unless you know what is going on) and working rightward to identify what other people are thinking or to do research on individual markets or the economy. I suggest you use it as I do, one subject at a time. For example, check out the news at Bloomberg, then return to The Speculator's Edge page and check out the headlines at CBS Marketwatch and Reuters and so on. I think you'll find that by doing so, you will feel very well informed and confident that you know what everyone else knows - a critical factor in trading success.

I hope you will find The Speculator's Edge to be as useful as I do and that the design works for you as it does for me. I will try to continue to add quality content to it in the days ahead. In the meantime, you comments and suggestions are welcome and, if you do like the site, remember to tell your friends about it and to click the big purple button next to the logo at the top of the page to find out how you can support it.
