Brent McClymont took off like a scalded hare in the first heat of the King Country Saloon Challenge. But then he smoked up, pulled off and trailered. Also out of the series early was 51r Grant McConnell who had his Bell-Housing scatter itself all over. Part of the steel went through the fire wall between the driver's feet, but most of the pieces littered the track.
The King Country Challenge went to Phil Towgood from 79h Mike Griffiths and 27r Ken Symes.
