the works of the flesh
Quote from "spiritual and physical health," by Charles S. Price

Doing "the best we know how" is not good enough!  Jesus would never have had to die at Calvary’s Cross if the best we could do was, in reality, good enough. The truth is that we insult our God if the "best we can do" is offered to Him!  It is not the best that we can do but the best that He can do!  "Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth."  (Hosea 6:3)  This is the race we are running.  We must RUN TO WIN!  We must RUN TO KNOW CHRIST!  This is why we have to "sell out" completely to God.  Christ sold out when He left His heavenly glory to bring us back from bondage, even as in days of old the children of Israel were led from slavery to the gates of the Promised Land!  No wonder the "best we can do" is not good enough!  To say that we are doing the best that we can is to place ourselves back in that state of "the woman did tempt me and I did fall!"  Our only hope is in Him!  He, Himself is our Salvation!  He is our Wisdom!  He is our Strength!  He is our Healing!  He is our all and in all!
