Deserata'
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, & remember what peace
there may be in silence. As far as possible be on good terms with
all persons. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others,
even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud & agressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If
you compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter;
for always there will be greater and lessor persons than yourself.
Enjoy your acheivements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real
possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in
your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this
not blind you to what virtue there is; many people strive for high
ideals;
Be yourself, Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical
about love; for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it
transcends time and space.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the
things of youth. Nurture strength of Spirit to shield you in sudden
misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many
fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome
disipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the
stars;you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to
you the, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therfore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of
life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful
world. Be careful. Take Care. Strive to be Happy.

"Poetry affords us a respite in which we may gather renewed strength for the old struggle to adapt ourselves to reality" ~ Robert Haven Schauffler
"I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always
have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs
and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when
I am filled with music."~George Elliot

Quote for the week Jan 14 1998
"Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so that they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want"-Margaret Young
"No pessimest ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new heaven to the human spirit.~ Helen Keller
