That way in all hosts you also have an "authentic" column, marked only when the key on the remote host for this host matches the key you set on your local station for that host. note that actual key is *never* transmitted over a network. A predetermined (hardcoded) phrase is encrypted using the key. This encrypted phrase is sent over and compared to a similarly encrypted phrase. if they match, the key is the same. | Avenger | ||

Each host can store an icon.bmp file (32x32 or whatever) in its netpopup folder. However, pressing refresh in all hosts will not cause a send of graphical data over the net each time. This will only happen at popup startup and the local machine can cache icons as ip.bmp where ip is 192.168.41.2 etc. etc. hmmm... thinking about it, I think the above suggestion is unfeasible ? any better ideas to accomplish the same end result a different way ? | Avenger | ||
| C | OK, this one is important for newbies. I've seen many using popup for their first time.... there appear to be two problems: 1. everyone and I mean *everyone* clicks on the "close" cross on the top right corner to get rid of the popup window, specially since the allhosts window is closed using the cross too. So what I suggest is a single "x" icon. get rid of the maximize and minimize. popup now can only be shut down from file->exit. Also you need to clarify the two button dialog which appears when popup is exiting... no one bothers reading the message on the top and looks at the yes and no buttons only. change the labels on the buttons to read "EXIT POPUP" and "DO NOT EXIT POPUP". Minor change, but a big help in making new non-cs people comfortable with the prog. | Avenger | ||
