On January 28th, 2000, Derek and I moved into our new home! It
wasn't something we had planned for another year, but when our landlord
announced in October '99 that he wanted his apartment back, we decided
no better time than the present. Call us crazy, but I think we were
probably two of only a few people house-hunting over the Christmas season!
But what a present! After looking at several old homes (which we
originally wanted), our agent introduced us to this 10-year-old semi-dettached.
We had sworn up and down - no condos, no semis - but when we saw this place,
we were smitten! It was bright, airy, modern, and spacious, with a deep
yard backing onto a natural area. The neighbourhood was peaceful,
much quieter with more trees than our old 'hood. We have never regretted
our decision! Our thanks to my brother, Clayton, Derek's sister,
Holly, my parents, our friends Shiraz, Tim, Dimitra (and Spencer!), and
Jeff for helping us with the big move. Thanks, too, to our friend,
Nick, who took several trips for boxes, Derek's Mom for preparing a roast
beef dinner while we were unpacking, and to everyone who offered their
support and encouragement (buying a house ain't easy, folks!). An
extra-special thanks to Bill Warder of The Real Estate Company for
the extra miles he went for us! His service was impeccable
and, if you live in London, I would recommend him over your typical Re/Max
or Century 21 - they would not give you the level of personable
service that he did! Thanks, Bill! |
