StarSplitter Class Bomber (Naruni):

The Starsplitter is a heavily armed and armored star fighter class ship that is designed for long range raids, attack missions against Capital Ships, and for combat reconnaissance missions.

This star fighter design is from Naruni Industries and is designed to be far more capable and far more powerful than their previous star fighter designs. This star fighter is selling better than any of them and much of the production for the other designs is being converted to production of this ship.

It is similar in size to the CAF Proctor class star fighter but is more powerful. The bomber has a crew of five including a pilot, weapons officer, and three gunners. It has 7 coffins for crew members and up to passengers to have sleeping areas for long range missions. These sleeping areas are built into the sides of the storage compartment. Bomber has multiple weapon systems (Forward laser cannon, Forward Rail Gun, cruise missile launchers, two side point defense lasers, Rear turret with both a rail gun and a point defense laser, and rear firing mini-missile launchers). Ship also has Contra Gravitic star drive for long range use. Sensor are top of the line phase world systems. Both rail guns use the same size of ammo. On reconnaissance missions, often some or all of the cruise missiles will be replaced by probes (Same size and same powered range but have sensors in place of warhead).

This starfighter design uses modified starship speed and ranges. See Revised Starship Rules for Phase World for more details.

(Note: The power system is fusion not anti-matter because the author's opinion is that anti-matter is to dangerous to be used in vehicles that may be used in an atmosphere. If a starship powered by anti-matter was to detonate in an atmosphere it would cause huge planetary damage. At GM option, this can also be applied to all starfighters or this fighter can be changed to anti-matter.)

WEAPON SYSTEMS:

  1. 2 Cm Laser Cannons (2): One laser cannon is mounted on each side of hull of ship. It is the ships primary anti-fighter/light ship weapon system. Since weapon system is a light weapon system, the weapon has a space range of 100 times what it would probably be with unmodified starship rules.
Range: 1,000 miles (1,609 km) in space and 10 miles (16 km) in an atmosphere.
Mega Damage: 4D6x10 MDC. per blast. If one is destroyed, damage is reduced to 2D6x10 MDC.
Rate of fire: Equal to the combined hand to hand attacks of the pilot or gunner (usually 4 or 5).
    Payload: Effectively Unlimited.
  2. One (1) GR1000 Large Rail Guns: Weapons is mounted in the nose of the fighter and is mostly to be used against targets that are impervious to energy. Both GR-Rail gun and laser can be combined costing one attack. The cannons fires its projectiles at close to the speed of light so it can use the cannon at high sublight speeds
Range: 16 miles (25.8 km) through atmosphere and 1,600 miles (2,580 km) in space.
Mega-Damage: 40 round burst does 4d6x10 M.D. (Both weapons do 8D6x10 when combined when both are in range)
Rate of Fire: Equal to the combined hand to hand attacks of the pilot (usually 4 or 5).
    Payload: 8,000 Rounds (200 Bursts).
  3. Side 8 mm Point Defense Lasers in Ball Turret (2): Point defense lasers are used as an anti-missile, anti-power armor, and anti-starfighter defense to the sides of the starship. Weapon can fire single shot or three round bursts to do increased damage.
Range: 200 miles (320 km) in space and 2 miles (3.2 km) in an atmosphere.
Mega Damage: Single shot does 1D6x10 MDC each and three round burst does 3D6x10
Rate of fire: Equal to the combined hand to hand attacks of the gunner (usually 4 or 5).
    Payload: Effectively Unlimited.
  4. Rear Combination in Ball Turret (2): Point defense laser is used as an anti-missile, anti-power armor, and anti-starfighter to the rear of the starship. Rail gun is used against targets that are impervious to energy. Both Weapons can be combined at close range for greater damage costing one attack. Rail Gun fires its projectiles at close to the speed of light so it can use the cannon at high sublight speeds
Range: Point Defense Laser, 200 miles (320 km) in space and 2 miles (3.2 km) in an atmosphere. GR-Rail Gun, 800 miles (1,290 km) in space and 8 miles (12.9 km) in an atmosphere.
Mega Damage: Point Defense laser, Single shot does 1D6x10 MDC each and three round burst does 3D6x10 GR-Rail Gun, 20 round burst does 2D6x10 M.D. (Both weapons do 5D6x10 when combined)
Rate of fire: Equal to the combined hand to hand attacks of the pilot (usually 4 or 5).
Payload: Point Defense laser, Effectively Unlimited. GR-Rail Gun, 4,000 Rounds (200 Bursts).
  5. Cruise Missile Launchers (2): Cruise Missile Launchers are mounted in the belly of the fighter in. Missiles are launched by special launchers. Missile has a top speed of Mach 25 in an atmosphere and in space has an acceleration of 10% of light per turn (far faster than any starship). Since starships will no longer engage at rock throwing distances, whether weapons can be shot down is calculated from the speed of target, launcher, and missile. When drive goes dead, missile will still cruise unless set to self destruct but has very low odds of hitting starships (Great for hitting bases and planets because target does not move and missile when dead at -25% to detect.) Cruise missiles have minuses to hit small targets but are all considered smart missiles.
Range: Missile range is 8000 miles (12,875 km) in an atmosphere and 4,000,000 miles (6,437,376 km/ 21.5 light seconds) in space
Mega-Damage & Properties: See Phase World Missiles (Anti-Matter does 4D6x100 MDC).
Rate of fire: One at a time or in volleys of two, three, or four missiles per attack
Payload: 8 Cruise Missiles each launcher for a total of 16 cruise missiles
  6. Medium Range Missile Launchers (2): Weapon system is used for hitting enemy robots and fighters. Weapon system is also very effective as an anti-cruise missile. Like other Phase world systems, weapon system range and speed has been increased. Missile range is 1000 times normal in space and double normal range in an atmosphere. Missile has a top speed of Mach 15 in an atmosphere and in space has an acceleration of 6% of light per turn. Normally used for anti-fighter and point defense.
Mega-Damage: varies with medium range missile type (See Phase World Missiles).
Range: 160 miles (257.5 km) in an atmosphere and 80,000 miles (128,750 km/0.43 light seconds) in space
Rate of fire: Can fire missiles one at a time or in volleys of 2, 4, or 8 missiles for both launchers.
Payload: 20 per launcher for a total of 40 medium range missiles
  7. Mini-Missile Launchers (2): It is a mainly defensive weapon to protect the rear of the bomber. Fires mini-missiles used for offensive and defensive purposes. Missile has a top speed of Mach 10 in an atmosphere and in space has an acceleration of 2% of light per turn (slightly faster than any starship except if it is exceeding it maximum safe acceleration). Special mini-mines can be used in launcher as well.
Mega-Damage: varies with mini-missile type (See Phase World Missiles).
Range: Missile range is 2 miles (3.2 km) in an atmosphere and 100 miles (161 km) in space
Rate of fire: Can fire missiles one at a time or in volleys of 2, 4, 8, or 12.
Payload: 24 per launcher for a total of 48 mini-missiles.
