The Bonfire

Revised 9/27/06. Well, it's been two years since I last touched this page, and it was five years prior to that. I was internetless in the five year gap. These last two years, I've spent quite a bit of time on the internet: on forums, in Second Life, and occasionally a stint in WoW or CoH. Like everyone else, I've picked up a blogspot blog, and I added a link to the left. In the new era of big-ass monitors, I notice my front page doesn't look so good at higher resolutions. Sorry.

What you have before you is a forum for exhibition; it keeps me from flashing pedestrians late at night. I call it The Bonfire because fire is cool. It has this great creative-destructive duality, and some scientists say that fire and humanity discovered each other: when we started using it, we were still dull-witted monkey-things, but cooking gave us access to nutrients that let our brains develop into the non-stop, three-ring circus they are today. The Bonfire is also about cooperative improvisation, everyone throwing on a log to release individual energies and create a huge, shiny whole. Here's my log.

That's my take, but mainly The Bonfire is what all fires are: something to stare at. You might see the desires forever consuming the world, writhed round each other as snakes in a pit, or the faces you've locked in your deepest undermind, half-glimpsed in the consumptive glare, or dancing bunny-rabbits. Sometimes I think of myself as an orgiastic ring of fire-bunnies (well, just now, actually). This site is dedicated to the proposition that all ideas are created equal, and should be fused together into a nonsensical, steaming hunk of space-garbage. Drift-metal, Ha! I am that garbage!

Oh, are you still reading this? Pardon me.

You'll actually find a fair amount of content here, from writing to visual art to manic philosophy, and links to related madness. Much of what's here now is five years old or so. The Bonfire has been burning since sometime in the late 'nineties, and I lost track of it for a while there. New content within The Bonfire is unlikely, but I do check back here occasionally, and I blog a once or twice a month, typically.

This site's not too complicated, 'cause I don't know that much about design, but kick around for a while and you will find plenty to stimulate, amuse, and maybe annoy or disgust. I get pretty far out there sometimes, but bear with me. I'm a pretty interesting guy, and after a while, it usually stops being a "scary bug" kind of interesting.
