This page is dedicated to our parents and features some of the pictures that were taken when they were young, and some of the photos they took when we were young. It also includes some pictures of our children when they were young and of course some "younger" pictures of our grandchildren. The quality of some of the older prints is not too good, so they did not scan and reproduce too well here, but I still think they are neat! Enjoy! This was really fun to do. "Roots" consists of several pages to hasten loading, so don't miss the follow-on pages. |

Beginning with our Mothers: Doris's Mother, Alma, is on the left with uncle, Howard. She was 4 years old there. My Mother, Esther, is on the right. She was in her early teens in this picture.

And our Fathers: On the left, (from right to left) are Fred, Doris's Father, Alma, Doris, and her Uncle Jack. On the right is my Father, Jesse, on leave from the Navy. Both of the above photos were taken circa 1944. |
Art's Grandparents: This is Charles and Clara Slick. They raised my father, Jesse, after his parents were killed in an auto/train collision. They were my unofficial grandparents. |
Doris's Father and Grandparents: This is (from left to right) Helen, Fred, and Ross Kirkpatrick. Helen and Ross, Doris's grandparents, were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Fred, Doris's father, was their oldest son. |
This is one of Doris's cutest baby pictures. Note that even then she was a jewelry nut, wearing a gold bracelet and necklace. |

This is Ross and Fred Kirkpatrick, holding baby Doris. |

These two pictures are of Doris, taken at the home of her Grandparents. On the left, barely a toddler. A sexy pose (right) for a little girl, standing on her Grandmother's front porch. |

Doris and her friend, sitting on a swing on her grandmother's porch. That is her dog "Inky" sitting beside her. |
These two pictures are of me, probably at the age of 4 - 5. This was before I grew the beard! |

This is another photo of yours truly. With friends and/or relatives visiting Washington, DC. on June 6, 1948.

You really can't tell due to the quality of the photo below, but that is me on the top row, far left. |
This is our 4th or 5th grade class at Fairview Avenue Elementary School in Waynesboro, PA. Doris and I actually recognize some of the other faces too. |

This is the beautiful young girl I fell in love with in high school. Doris was about 15 or 16 years old here. |
Doris enjoyed acting in high school. Here, on the right, Doris was a sophomore. This was a newspaper photo taken to advertise the play: "Smart Enough To Be Dumb." |
These photos are of Doris and I, still in high school and very much in love. Visiting Gettysburg (left). Doris visiting Art (right) at a summer boys' camp where he was a counselor. |
