"Our Summer"

We did a lot of interesting things this summer.

First, we went on vacation to Missouri, to visit our grandma. We got to stay at the Holidome in Columbia. It was fun because we got to go swimming every-day inside the dome, which was great, because it rained for two days! Our cousins, Jonathan, Trevor, Kirsten and Tyler came over an dwent swimming, too. While we were in Missouri, we also stayed in a cabin in the Meramec State Park. We caught lizards and frogs and played in the woods. We even got to go to a real cave. It was very cool!

Second, we were in swimming lessons. We went everyday for two weeks to Foothills Pool and learned how to do new things in the water, like float, hold our breath, do flips under water, and dive in the deep end off the diving board! It was great, we even got an American red Cross certificate for passing the class.

Third, we got to go to "Space Mission Bible Camp" at our church! It was for a whole week. We learned about how God helps us to be kind, helps us to love Jesus, helps us to be helpful, and helps us to be faithful. Our church was turned into a Space Mission Control Center. There were planets and black paper all around, making it look like space. We made cool crafts, like walkie-talkies out of juice boxes, and a rocket ship that would blast off using water and Alka-Seltzer for fuel!

Fourth, we went camping for two days in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, which is in Colorado. We slept in our very own tent, and we got to fishing, but we didn't catch anything. Hudson stuck his finger with a hook! We got to go on a hiking trail, and got to see a camp-fire slide-show all about birds up at the visitor center.  We made s'mores by roasting marshmallows over the fire on sticks we found, then we put it in a sandwich of graham crackers and chocolate. That was our bed-time snack. We had a lot of fun camping.
