Slamming the locker door shut, I casually strut to Brian and tap him on the shoulder. I could have died when he turned around to face me. I have never in my life came so close to him. Luckily, I was able to stop myself from drooling all over the school tiles.
"Urm… Brian? I’m from your Math class." My god, I must have sounded like the lamest person on Earth!
"Yeah, I know you. You’re…. Tri… Tricia right? The one who’s really good with computers." He said with a smile.
I don’t know if that was meant to be an insult or a flattery, but my whole face turned red anyway. Thanks was all I manage to say without hyperventilating.
"So, what’s up?" he probed. Man, he’s so cool. I mean, he’s so nice to people and stuff, and HE KNOWS MY NAME!!! I’m in heaven!
"I’m having a bit of problem in Math class. You know how it is with Calculus, I can never get the whole concept right. I mean, I was just wondering if you know, you could help me with the topic or something." I replied, trying to sound as casual as possible, but inside me, my heart was pounding out of my chest.
Brian let out that infamous chuckle of his and said, "I bet I’m not any much better than you are. Maybe you should try asking someone else. Like A.J., he’s good in Math."
I nodded and couldn’t get myself to say something of more intelligence.
"Sorry but I got to go… basketball practice. And nice shirt you’ve got there!" With that, he gave me a flirty wink and disappeared with the after-school crowd.
I stood there staring at my shirt. It was just a simple batik shirt that my mum had gotten me from Indonesia. I think I’ll wear it more often now.
I half-ran home and the first thing I did when I stepped into the house was to call Jo.
I told her about everything and how I nearly fainted from excitement.
Jo was nice about it, as usual. "Hey, that’s a good start. Now that the ice is broken, everything’s settled!"
"Yeah, I hope so. Do you think I should call him and talk to him?" I’m like that. I’m really shy when at first, but once I start, there’s no stopping me!
"You move fast huh? Call him tonight. Hey, I gotta go, mum’s screaming at me to get off. Bye!"
A dead tone.
And it continues...
Man, I had enough of this nonsense!
You are the number person here.
