Tricia
"I don’t believe you!" I exclaimed, annoyed that Niki was trying (yet again) to set me up with some other guy, "Last week it was Mark the Nerd and Clint the Nightmare. So who do we have this week? Jonathan the Freak?"
Niki was not deterred. "Listen!" She replied and her eyes lit up with excitement. "Danny’s different. He’s really cute. I mean, those blonde hair and green eyes of his are to die for! Besides, he’s into sports like you and he’s warm, funny, caring…. y’know, the usual Mr. Perfect Guy."
I rolled my eyes for the umpteenth time. I got up from my giant bean bag and adjusted my shorts. "Oh yeah? Why don’t you take him then?"
"I was nice enough to save him for you, so shut up and just give me a simple yes or no okay?"
From the way Niki described him, he sounded like a total babe, but I had my doubts still. She had told me that Mark was a gentleman and he turned out to be some incredibly boring geek. I still get the chills everytime I think about him!
After weighing the pros and cons for a moment, I decided I had nothing to lose, so why not just give it a try?
"Okay, fine. But if he’s not even half as wonderful as you make him out to be, you’re gonna be in deep shit." I warned her.
She wasn’t even intimidated. "That is," she said matter-of-factly, "if you can ever thank me enough for introducing such a beautiful man to you." She grinned, and there was a certain haughtiness in her tone.
"Pass me the phone," she commanded. "I’ll call him now and set a date." I stared at her incredulously. Man, she’s an efficient worker!
And so my first date with Danny was set. I tried to act casual about the whole affair but inside, I was dying to find out more about him.
