With the arrival of the Beatles, came the beginning of the British Invasion. Up until then we were still Rockin' & Rollin' with the likes of Elvis Presley, teen idols and surf sounds. This British sound was so fresh. No doubt that the stars of the day sure had something to worry about. A lot of groups were about to fall by the wayside! We began hearing of the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Herman's Hermits, the Dave Clark Five. Each one bringing their own versions of British rock with them. It was a great time to be alive. To witness all of these groups first hand. The record charts were filled with the hits from these groups. Of the top 100 songs for the year 1964, 23 were from England. The door was opened for a form of music never before imagined.

In the states at this time, American groups began to sweat. No one could compete with this phenomenon. Even Elvis began to worry that he may be washed up. But there was nothing anyone could do. The British were invading America again, only this time, we loved it!

I wonder now. What would it be like today if we had never heard of The Beatles or any of the other British groups? Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it? I believe that they changed the world.

Below are some links I found on the web for some of these early pioneers of British Rock. These guys have some interesting stories. Check them out!!
