The final Annual General Meeting of the Federation of Irish Cyclists took place on Friday last, the 27th of November. As of January 1st, the F.I.C. will become known as the Irish Cycling Federation (I.C.F.). This was the main item to be discussed at the meeting. Other big news includes the retirement of Tommy Campbell after 25 years in the sport. His input into the sport will be sadly missed.
The role of President of the ICF, Pat McQuaid, will also be changed, with McQuaid working on an international basis only. Dermot Dignam has been elected Chairman of the Board, and is expected to take on McQuaid's domestic duties.
However, since then Dermot Dignam has resigned as chairman, leaving his seat vacant. This in itself is bad news for Irish cycling, as Dignam was a good chairman, and now the ICF is in trouble until its members decide to settle all its arguments.
Also, Paddy Griffin has resigned from his position of Public Relations Officer.
