I've been with them since the beginning. They formed the name at Caufield's house. It just sort of went from there. They started out in a small town in Pennsylvania called Unionville. They were just a group of girls goofing off, but they had fun. They had the name before they even had the band. They hired me to be the roadie when I stumbled out of a bar dead drunk and half naked. Since I was broke, I decided to take the job, although they couldn't promise any paying gigs. It was pretty easy though at first, since they didn't have any instruments. But anyway, once they knew some tunes, having a band got easier. The first gig was in a barn on Street Rd. It was basically a humming, singing, elbow-slapping hoedown. I think some clog dancers were there. Probably about 20 or 30 people came. Not bad for a start. They only charged 50 cents per couple. The crowd all looked like they were having a good time, tossing pitchforks about and all, so they thought, "If we're this good humming, imagine how good we could be with instruments." That was actually a little harder. Their favorite part was banging the instruments against the stage. Heh. We had a good time in that old repossessed house in Mortonville. They were crazy. Then they became a real band.
