Spark
Plug Tester --- (circa 1917)
Keep Spark Plugs Clean By Using
White Rose
Motor Gasoline
-and-
National Carbonless Motor oil
I believe these Spark Plug Testers were given out about
1917.
They were made by M.(?) Jackson & Co. , Chicago
and are 3 1/2 " long .
The photo below (Jan.18th, 1917) illustrates the beautiful artwork
of Canadian Oil's letterhead of the era.
A similar style letter, with detailed instructions, was given
out with the testers.
Touching the tips to the plug terminal and base causes a spark
to jump the gap in the tester.
They could also be used to test the battery or magneto.
.
Close examination will reveal Sales and Distributing Points
of the era .
"In using WHITE ROSE MOTOR GASOLINE and NATIONAL CARBONLESS
MOTOR OIL
you double the life of your spark plugs by preventing the formation
of soot or carbon deposit ."
