Canadian Oil Companies used giveaway savings banks throughout the years. Advertisements were aimed towards teaching children the importance of saving, but also suggested other uses, such as safe razor blade disposal. Because several of these banks were non-opening, many were ruined with can openers.

Early banks say Gear Compound on the side, newer ones say Gear Lubricant. -1934, 33/4 " tall, Boy and Slate, non opening , 'Savings Bank' embossed in lid. Says "Trans Gear Lubricant" on side. -1935-38, Boy and Slate 31/2" tall, non opening -1938-52, Yellow, 31/2 tall, non opening -1952-58, White and Gold Ultra 2 3/4" tall - non opening -1958-67, there were two versions of plastic dime bank with removable lid.
