The Fontan
The Fontan procedure is a surgery that redirects blood returning from the body to the lungs
instead of to the right side of the heart. The superior and inferior vena cava are sewn to
the pulmonary artery, a baffle is placed across the right atrium, and the shunt from the BT Shunt
procedure is removed.
