THE STORY OF BRUNO

Last year Katie's doe, Speck, gave birth then passed onto goat heaven so we inherited two bottle babies one of which we saved and one which went with his mom . Swearing I would never keep a bottle baby, well my convictions were out voted by Katie who owned the doe so therefore owned the kids. The thoughts that went through my head were, o.k. Mom will end up being responsible here, no sleep, extra work, ect.

Well, Bruno adopted Katie as Mom in no time. When she runs he runs, when she jumps he jumps, and as you can see in the picture to your left, when it comes to poising for the camera they are two peas in a pod. When he can't see her he calls to her, she works on her school work after she feeds him where he can see her until he falls asleep in the evening, he cries if he can't find her.

Yes, Bruno lives in the house, has his own room with a special extra heat source and gets fed on a schedule.

This has been a very good experience for Katie in learning more responsibility and an enjoyable, humorous, and yes at times tiring one for me, but seeing my daughter interact with this little one, and the love and caring that she is showing, the time she is forfeiting with her friends so she can care for Bruno inspire me as to what a great, responsible, loving young lady that my daughter is and I thank the good lord for blessing me with her.

Oh, we haven't pulled this all off by ourselves, we have had lots of help in day time feeding from our good friends Russell & Brenda Richter, mainly Russell who has taken over the day time feeding schedule with Katie doing the morning and evening feedings. A big thanks from Katie and I go out to the Richters.

Another big thanks goes out to Coni Ross, who has guided us through the bottle feeding abd raising a healty bottle baby.
