Beth's bus arrived in Kansas City at 4 pm that afternoon, then hitch-hiked the rest of the way to Tulsa.
Since there was a snow storm in Minnesota, Walker & Diana couldn't get a flight until the next night. "Boys, I left the cell-phone number on the refridgerator. Only call if there is an extreme emergancy," said Walker as he, Diana, and the younger Hanson's left for the airport.
That night around 1 am Beth found a payphone. She didn't have a quarter, so she called collect. The boys were asleep except Taylor, who was almost asleep when the phone rang. He sat up and hit his head on the top bunk, then ran into the kitchen. "Hello," he said praying it was his parents saying they found Beth. "You have a collect call from," said the operator. "Beth, please pick up!" Beth said. "If you wish to accept press 1-" continued the opertator, but Taylor had pushed 1 too fast and cut her off. "Beth? Where are you? Are you alright?" Taylor asked. "Yeah, I'm ok, could you please come and pick me up? I'm at the phone outside of First Trinity Lutheran in Broken Arrow," Beth said, knowing they'd come and get her. "Yeah, Broken Arrow is only 10 miles from our house, we'll be right over. Bye," said Taylor hurriedly. After Beth said bye he hung up and ran upstairs into his room. He woke up Isaac & Zac. "Ike, Zac, get up we have to go to church!" Taylor said loudly. "Taylor, it's 1:15 am. Go back to bed," said Isaac sleepily. "No, get up! Beth called and she's in Broken Arrow right outside church!" Taylor yelled as he pulled Isaac off the top bunk & pulled Zac off the trundle bed.
