Fighting to stay alive-only seventeen
This is my uncle Izio. He should be 70 years old now and be a grandfather
if not this terrible war.Instead of playing football with hisfriends
in the streets, he had to fight for his life - because he was Jewish.
During the nazi occupation of warsaw,he was working for a German Nazi
dentist who didn't know he was jewish.He lived in a small room in his
clinic and worked as a dental technician during most of the war.
When the nazis fled Warsaw, Dr. Gross (The Nazi dentist) offered to
take him to Berlin.Izio escaped and joined the Polish resistance.
He and his friends were shooting from a building on the fleeing nazis
when some of them burned the house with the fighters inside.
All this we learned from Stanislaw Shykowski (His uncle) after the war,
as he found the body of Izio and burried him in a mass grave
