Here we are! After a time of dissoluteness and silence, I am here again with the Strato Site. A few news: on Saturday, 5th of June, I had the glorious chance to see Stratovarius in concert! It happened at the Gods Of Metal Festival in Milan, Italy, where the greatest metal bands of all times had played, such as Overkill, Mercyful Fate, MetallicA and, obviously, Stratovarius. The gig was opened by "Destiny", great song with great guitar playing of Timo Tolkki, absolutely the best guitarist in the world. The other Timo (Kotipelto) made my ears trembling, and it was so deeply exciting that I can tell you I never felt anything like that before. During the other songs, masterpieces like "The Kiss Of Judas", "Visions", "Forever", "Coming Home", "SOS", "Black Diamond" and finally "Legions", I totally enjoyed the great style of Jari Kainulainen. I always thought he was a great bassist, but in some ways shy, I had always seen him hiding from the great masses and popularity. And he blew all my thoughts away making, at the end of "Legions" and of the entire gig, a bass solo with his elastic fingers, so fast and virtuoso that it really seemed the Jimi Hendrix of Bass. Truly devastating, I was left for an hour with my mouth open and my eyes barred, completely shocked for what I saw. No words for him.
It had been a great gig for Jorg too; he played greately, and launched to the crowd his sticks more that one time, anyway never losing the beat. He is simply the best around. No words for Jens too, who was making his solos, never the same for two gigs in a row, with one hand, while with the other he was making photographs on to us! Absolutely great!
There are no doubts: the true kings of Heavy Metal are here to reign endlessly... and their name is STRATOVARIUS!!
