~ USS CONSTITUTION ~

Sails under the American Flag.

Built in 1797, "Old Ironsides" is the world's oldest commissioned warship.
She was rescued from the scrap heap by the pennies of American school children, and her restoration was completed in 1998; thus allowing her to sail under her own power for the first time in a century!

~ AKOGARE ~

Sails under the Japanese Flag.

Built in 1992, she is in the middle of the first-ever circumnavigation of the globe by a Japanese tall ship, which is expected to take 256 days and cover 27,000 miles!

~ AMERIGO VESPUCCI ~

Sails under the Italian Flag.

Built in 1931, she is one of the most beautiful of the tall ships. She is Italy's oldest active-duty ship, and was named for the Italian-born cartographer and explorer of the New World!

~ ASGARD II ~

Sails under the Irish Flag.

Built in 1981. Her Figurehead represents Graninne Mhaol, a pirate queen of the 16th century!

~ BEL ESPOIR ~

Sails under the French Flag.

Built in 1944, she was originally used to transport cargo between the Baltic and Newfoundland, for fishing off the Greenland coast, and as a cattle carrier between Copenhagen and Hamburg. She was completely rebuilt in 1993-94. Her name means "Beautiful Hope"!

~ BLUENOSE II ~

Sails under the Canadian Flag.

Built in 1963, she is a reproduction of Canada's most famous ship, which for two decades defeated all comers for the International Fisherman's Trophy. The original Bluenose appears on several Canadian postage stamps and on the back of that country's dime!

~ DANMARK ~

Sails under the Danish Flag.

Built in 1933, she was in New York for the 1939 World's Fair when World War II broke out. Instead of returning to her homeland, her officers put the Danmark at the disposal of the US government. She was assigned to the Coast Guard in New London, Conn., where she helped train more than 5,000 sailors before the war ended!
