Membership > Recruiting Members

Every Member Bring A Member - Pick a regular meeting night to have a Membership Party instead of a regular meeting. Have every member bring someone who they know that is jewish and not already a member of BBYO. By having their introduction to BBYO at a time when the chapter is planning fun and social programs might hook them by showing them the fun aspects of BBYO before you introduce them to the business meetings, that can be very boring and confusing for someone who doesn't know anything about BBYO. (Jess Levinson 1/17/99)

New Members or AIT overnight - Hold an overnight for all the new members, show them what BBYO is all about. Have food, movies, sports, AIT/MIT and educational programs so that every new member has an opportunity to do something that they enjoy.

Class Ovemights - Have an overnight just for one of the classes, run by a member of that class. Have all of the active members bring classmates and offer a prize to the member who brings the most new members.

New Member's Pizza Party - Invite new members to attend a Pizza Party where you have free drinks, soda, and chips. Give enough time to socialize but also hold an AIT/MIT class on the history of AZA/BBG and what AZA/BBG is today. The catch to this party is that they have to pay their membership dues before they can come.

Collect Calls - Collect members' calls. Have all potential AZA members receive calls from older members of the local BBG Chapter. In return, have your AZA older members call potential BBG members.

Membership Discounts - Using your treasury, offer a subsidy to all potential members. For example, if membership dues are $23, provide subsidies so that new members only have to pay $20.

Big Brothers Program - Offer all AZA new members a Big Brother, a member of the AZA Chapter who is a Junior or Senior. Have the Big Brother help them by calling them about meetings, offerring rides, etc. And offer all BBG new members a Big Sister from the BBG chapter.

Big Sisters Program - Offer all AZA new members a Big Sister, a member of the local BBG Chapter who is a Junior or Senior. Have the Big Sister do everything that a Big Brother would do. And offer all BBG new members a Big Brother from the AZA chapter.
