It must be catching, because BBMak's Irish neighbors, the flirty lads of Westlife-Nicky Byrne, 21; Shane Filan, 21; Bryan McFadden, 20; Mark Feehily, 20; and Kian Egan, 20-are causing massive swooning sessions among their female fans every time they sing "Swear It Again" from their 2000 self-titled CD. These five heartmelters are all about making people smile, especially Bryan. "I like to see people happy," dishes the blond-haired balladeer. "That's probably one of my best qualities." Nicky agrees, praising, "Bryan's very, very funn. He's always there to kind of perk you up and get you laughing and stuff." He's absolutely right, 'cause we here at BOP are always cheery when Bry and his Westlife buddies are around!

Westlife
Sensational single: "Swear It Again"
CD: Westlife
Lineup (from left according to the cover of the US "Swear It Again" single): Nicky Byrne, Bryan McFadden, Shane Finlan*, Mark Feehily, and Kian Egan
Voice vibe: "The CD has a good mix of up-tempos, mid-tempos, and ballads," says Shane. "We'd like to think we're like the Backstreet Boys, soundwise, 'cause we look up to them. Our music appeals to people of all ages-from 5-year-olds to 90-year-olds."
Sound source: Shane idolizes Michael Jackson, Nicky's a Celine Dion fan, Bryan loves the Beatles, Mark digs Mariah Carey, and Kian rocks out to Metallica.
Off the record: "Swear It Again" went to number one in the UK-as did four other singles off the album. The first time the guys heard one of their songs on the radio, they nearly had an accident! "We were on a freeway in England, and we were so freaked, we had to pull over," Shane says. "We just waited to hear the DJ say our name."

*Note: Shane's last name is mispelled. Correct way: Filan.
