"Before I Met You"

This is my son who I am very proud of  A gown man now with 
children of his own.  After all these years I still remember the 
wonder I felt as I looked into the face of my new born son.

Tiny little baby boy so small

Where will you walk when you grow tall?

Will you learn to love, and how to share?

Will you be kind and always care?

You've much to learn in a short time

Will it make sense or be a mindless  rhyme?

This world demands so much of you

Always remember to yourself be true

I'll teach what I believe to be right

And hope it will light your path at night

Decide for yourself, find a good guide

Don't ask life for a free ride

Small one, I'll have you a little longer

I'll love and watch as you grow stronger

But I wonder, when you can walk free

What kind of a man will my son be?
