Ah, Cape Breton. What a wonderful place to live. I think the only problem with this part of Nova Scotia, is the percent of unemployed residents. I don't know what it is exactly but it's a lot. Cape Breton is not the place to live if you are looking a job. Anyway, the best time to visit is late Fall, when all the leaves are changing. It's really beautiful in the mountains with all the greens and reds and oranges and yellows. There are many walking trails, from 5-minute walks to overnight hikes, that you can go on. I recommend Skyline, in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park. If you want directions to it, or any other trail in the park, go to the information center in either Cheticamp or Ingonish. My favourite time of the year here is Winter. If you read my info on the main page, you know why. :) There are two places to ski, Ski Cape Smokey, located in Ingonish, and Ski Ben Eion, located in Ben Eion. Ski Cape Smokey is located about and hour to an hour and a half outside of Sydney, on the Trans Canada Highway, and Ben Eion is located about 20 to 30 minutes outside of Sydney, on Highway 4. Well, that's a little about Cape Breton Island. If you want more info, check out these two links. They have info on the parks (provincial and national), price guides, places to stay, and lots more!Cape Breton Showcase
