OPEN MEMORANDUM
 

for integrated activities for the implementation of the Plan for Environmental Management, Local Model for
Sustainable Development of Ecological Zone Sofia-Iztok (East), supporting the process of European
integration - Sofia, 18th Oct. 1997

THE REPRESENTATIVES OF

Ministry of Environment and Waters, Sofia Municipality and the regional authorities, NGOs, Academic
Institutes and all the participants in the final conference - MOEW Project (PHARE BG 9310-03-05-05)
CONVINCED: in the interdisciplinary, complex and open character of the activities for protection of the
environment, sustainable development and European integration

ADDRESS

  • Government and local institutions, the public and the citizens of Sofia;
  • the businessmen in Bulgaria and Europe;
  • the European capitals and the network of sustainable towns;
  • the international public, academic, cultural, financial institutions, EU Programmes, UN and other initiatives for the protection of the environment and sustainable development;
  • all those in favor of the environmental protection and the sustainable development;

WITH THE APPEAL FOR

  • open and beneficial/useful interaction for the implementation the Plan for Environmental Management of "Ecozone - Sofia" and the development on its base a Local Model for Sustainable Development and European Integration for the town of Sofia;
  • joint drawing and practical application of local indicators for sustainable development for Sofia and for the
    Balkans;
  • support of the Agency for Sustainable Development and Euro-integration - Ecozone "Sofia", as a non-profit organisation, committed to the relisation of a Local Model for Sustainable Development and Eurointegration;
  • raising awareness, implementation and supplementing to the defined in the Plan pilot projects;
  • wide moral, professional, administrative, social and financial support.

WITH THE UNITING AIM

to transform our capital into a sustainable renewing/renovating European city, in line with the stated in the appendix specific objectives of the Environmental Management Plan and the Local Model for Sustainable Development and Euro-integration - Ecozone Sofia-Iztok.
