BLADDER STONES IN RABBITS

Bladder stones are quite commonly seen in our domestic rabbits.

Urinary concrements can be caused by inadequate food or chronic urinary infections.

SYMPTOMS :

The urine is red by the presence of blood ; the rabbit is in a painful state, not eating, losing weight ; he tries to urinate frequently, but only little quantities of urine are actually excreted.

DIAGNOSIS
An X-ray is the best way to confirm the presence of bladder stones (see picture)

TREATMENT

surgical removal is necessary (see photo : stone after surgery)
