Darkness wraps itself around you. Raising your head your eyes widen in wonder as you realize that the moon shining above you is black. An eclipse you think to yourself, how wonderful. But this is no ordinary eclipse for as you stare at the blackened moon, you notice something strange.
As your eyes adjust to the dim light you see that in fact what is blocking the moons light is a large black dragon hovering not more than a foot in front of you. Tentatively you reach out your hand to touch it, and noticing you at last it turns its head and speaks.

"Hello there small one. Please forgive me for not seeing you sooner, I am not used to visitors. My name is Luminar."

The Dragon dips its head in greeting and you respond.

"I am a moon dragon" it continues "That does not mean that I come from the moon of course. My kind cannot exist in the bright light of your sun

We live by the gentle glow of moonlight which is of course why we do not meet many humans. This I feel is a great pity, for I myself would love to know more of you."

As you listen to the dragon, you wonder how many more of its kind you have missed seeing simply because you did not know of their existence, and you vow that from now on whenever you are out on moonlit nights, you will take extra care to check for moon dragons.
