Rushmore

Type: Comedy

Rating: ***1/2 (out of five stars)

Max Fischer is a 10th grader at the prestigious Rushmore Academy. He makes poor grades, mainly because of his interests in extracurricular activities; he is involved in well over a dozen activities, and is the president and/or founder of many of them. He is also a liar who tells everyone that his father (a barber) is actually a brain surgeon. One day, Max meets Rushmore's new first grade teacher, Miss Cross, and instantly falls in love. Unfortunately, Mr. Blume, a millionaire and major donor to Rushmore, also falls in love with her. Max Fischer becomes angered when Miss Cross tells Max that he's too young for her and she starts flirting with Mr. Blume. Tensions grow between the three characters, eventually leading to Max's expulsion from school for his misbehavior. Max tries to rebuild his life in a public school, getting involved in many activities once again. However, he continues trying to see Miss Cross and getting revenge on Mr. Blume. Although Rushmore is certainly original and quite entertaining, it is not the funniest of comedies. If you are looking for a side-splitting comedy, I would suggest seeing something else; however, if you want to see something different, I would suggest Rushmore.
