Rated: PG-13

This movie contains language, adult content, and violence. I would not recommend it to small children and people who hate the X-files.

Type: Mystery

*** (out of five stars)

In the "X-Files" movie, Scully and Mulder are sent to defuse a bomb that has been planted in a federal building. They fail to defuse the bomb and are blamed for the explosion, and the FBI tries to break up their team. However, the two soon find out that the bomb was apparently placed to destroy the body of a boy who fell into a pit and was contaminated by a bizarre black substance, along with the bodies of the boy's rescuers, who were also contaminated. Scully and Mulder are wound up in an enormous conspiracy that is much deeper than they initially thought.

Although this movie is pretty eerie and suspenseful, it has one major flaw: it doesn't appeal too much to casual viewers of the TV show; it seems to be dedicated towards more hardcore fans. I was told that to really understand the whole movie, you had to watch a few episodes of the X-Files that came out before the movie. I missed these episodes, so I was in the dark about some things that went on.
