The movie grossed more than $150 million, with more than 13.53 million attendance. It became the No.1 movie of all time in Japan, until surpassed by "Titanic".
 
The film uses 144,000 cels - it is one of the most expensive Japanese animation movies ever made at 2.35 billion yen ($24 million), or twice the cost of Akira.
 
International release will be handled by Disney (Miramax).
 
US release is reported as Oct 29th, 1999. Neil Gaiman (author of The Sandman) wrote/adapted the English version!
