Grevey's Old Town Tavern
in Falls Church, Virginia

Jimmy's Old Town Tavern
in Herndon, Virginia

McFadden's
in Washington, DC

It is the Washington area's most well known Bills Bar.   During the Superbowl run people would be lined up outside an half an hour before the game waiting for a seat to open up.

Grevey's is a place I occasionally stop by during the offseason as well.

Grevey's seems to be losing their Bills fans recently.

Jimmy's is my new preferred home on Sundays when I am in town although I do try to checkout other places to watch the game.

I recommend the Virginia Stew, Beef on Weck and the wings (my wife's favorite).

Jimmy and I founded an official Bills Backers group, the Northern Virginia Buffalo Bills Backers, and it is in the 11th year of existence.

It is the Washington area's newest Bills Bar.  It is associated with the NYC Bills Backers group.

They have an unique twist to tailgating - all you can eat wings with all your can drink soda ($15), draft beer ($15) or domestic bottled beer & plus draft Guiness and Harp. Good deal if you are hungry and thirsty.

I have a map showing all of the locations of the Bills Bars

I go to different Bills bars on occasion and I probably would never have left Grevey's except for one thing - CROWDS !  If it is any decent team or a team which has an active fan base outside of their home town and they are playing Buffalo, Grevey's is packed and the parking lot is a ZOO!.  If you are going to your game by yourself or you do not have time for reservations, Grevey's is very irritating.  Usually every table in Grevey's is full (or reserved) and you have to compete just to get a seat at the bar.  The servers are unhelpful (no tables to spare) and they usually do not start clearing out no shows until halfway through first quarter.  Lunch brunch is good but not my type of fare every weekend.

I discovered Jimmy's one weekend when visiting Herndon. Jimmy had just opened the bar and I was surprised to find it was a Bills bar. I had a great time but it was further than I wanted to drive on a weekly basis.

One Sunday, I went to Jimmy's Old Town Tavern again because my girl was visiting some friends in Herndon.  I expect Grevey's would have been empty with this being an lightweight opponent (EAGLES) game.  Jimmy's was three quarters full when I got there and I sat down at the the table of a another guy wearing a #89 (Steve Tasker) Jersey.  He was new to the area (from Cincinnati) and found the place from my first review of Jimmy's shortly after it opened.

In about ten minutes the place was full (all tables taken) but that did not stop Jimmy from finding seats for newcomers.  Whenever someone new came in, Jimmy would find someone and ask if the new people could join the table.  Jimmy is everywhere during the game - going through tables like Thurman Thomas goes through linebackers, getting orders like Don Beebe going up for passes, delivering like Jim Kelly at his best and dispensing wisdom like Marv Levy.  He played the two minute offense for the whole game.

After a score Jimmy picks a fan to do the extra point.  You need to give a high five to everyone in the bar during the  'Shout!' song.  For this feat, you get a free beer.  During the Eagle's massacre, I was able to give everyone a high five, even those wearing Eagles and Miami items. The Redskin fans at the bar don't count since they refuse to participate in the game.

This bar would be perfect if:
     * A bit closer to my house (requires a 45 minute drive but worth it)
     * There were no  Redsuck fans there (sometimes Jimmy shoos them away)

I got a great T-shirt with image on it from Jimmy's.  I liked it so much I asked him for a copy of the image for my web site. Jimmy joined us on the Jim Kelly Hall of Fame Trip.
