Rome

Okay...here begins another tape in a series of tapes on world
mythology...a series of tapes entitled, 'Empathic Expressions'.
These tapes are empathic expressions which come to me as I study
the mythologies and legends of the world. There's quite a few
tapes, this tape here is on Rome, the Roman Empire.

There's a long period to the history of Rome, it started somewhere
around 750BC. Its height is somewhere in the 2nd Century...and
it's...the Roman control around 250BC was basically the peninsula of
present day Italy, and the island of Sicily; that was basically
what it was at 250BC; most of it's activity in conquering other
Nations started probably at that time. Rome was basically an
Empire of conquest...of war.

Rome, Italian--Roma; located in central Italy, the 'compartimento'
(region) of Latium, the capital of the Republic of Italy, the
'province' of Roma; also capital and center of the Empire in
ancient time, situated next to the Tiber River as it flows into
the Tyrrhenian Sea, which is adjoining the Mediterranean Sea.
Rome's foundation day is 21 April 753BC; the oldest settlement on
the Palatine Hill; the 7-Hills--Aventine, Caelian, Capitoline,
Esquiline, Palatine, Quirinal, and Viminal; though the noted
establishment of Rome is 753BC, still settlements existed there
since 1500BC. About 500yrs later in 264BC, Rome became the Ruler
of Italy, and immediately clashed with Carthaginians in 3-Punic
Wars; two war periods lasted 20yrs, these wars ranged from
264-146BC. Rome's peak of power--1st/2nd Centuries AD; it declined
  from that time--plagues and economic disasters in the 3rd Century;
massive invasions from N. Europe in the 5th Century increased the
decline, by 700AD the population of Rome declined to about 50,000,
and then came the battle for dominance between Nobility and
Religious factions; that period lasted until 1420AD, which concluded
a basic power-struggle, that ended when absolute Papal Rule was
established; a population of 100,000 was reached by 1600AD.

When one views...if one wants to look at two Nations, historical
Nations in ancient history, and see a contrast between the two,
one could look to Egypt, a Nation and mythology of an ancient people
who was/were close to the Earth, to the animals, to nature, Deified
those objects, those animals, those things reflected through nature.
When one looks to Rome, it is completely reversed, it's like the
other side of a coin. Roman's brutalized and killed the natural
habitat as much as possible.

I think there was a documentary I watched a number of years ago on
television about Rome, a very good piece that was put together by a
historian who recorded a series of tapes; I don't really remember
the exact/how it was put together (credits)...but it was an excellent
series. Somewhere in the series he said that very same thing,
'that the Egyptians Deified animals, the Roman's killed animals'.
And then he gave the example of something about when the Coliseum
in Rome was first opened, they slaughtered something like 200-lions
on the first day, things of that nature. Of course most people that
have had a history or knowledge of Rome, know what took place during
that time of the Coliseum.

Moving on here...I wanted to give a little bit of that background at
this time, because what I've done with these/this series of tapes on
world mythologies, the mythologies and legends of different Nations--
as I've recorded them, I also began to show parallels, similarities
between different Nations in their mythologies and legends; and how
important this all is. How it all shows a pattern of humanity on
this planet Earth, and it also signifies and points and directs
towards a major 'riddle' for the human race to overcome. That major
'riddle', I feel is a riddle with purpose, perhaps even a decisive
type of riddle that is basically held at an extremely high-level in
the Milky Way Galaxy, of which planet Earth and this solar system
that we're in, is part of.

I have yet to find any kind of information that doesn't point in
this direction...everything points in the direction--the human race
that's living on an isolated planet Earth, in an isolated (solar)
system in this Galaxy (Galaxy of the Milky Way)--everything points
to the fact that there are riddles in all the Nations that are on
this planet; these-riddles are (in) legendary ancient myth, and
they've been recorded, and they show similarities toward an ultimate
riddle...and I feel that riddle is of ultimate importance to the
entire Galaxy of which we are a part of.

The concepts, that the human race somehow came out of a combination
of different events on planet Earth, and originated here--this
concept has to be understood--that it is a nice concept...I mean it
is a 'concept'. But when one looks into the night sky and sees
everything that's going on there in this modern century of technology,
with all the astronomy access, the satellites that different Nations
have shot out-into the Galaxy...and the information that has been
given to the societies in persent time...gathered from those
explorations; of course the majority of the information has been
censored and kept hidden from the people, but we have a little bit
to go with...

When anyone looks in this direction, they realize that this concept
that the human originated somehow through a Darwinian Theory of
Evolution seems nice...but when one compares it to what they are
beginning 'to be preceiving in the Universe', they realize that
there's a huge picture that hasn't been (brought into) consciousness,
to/for the global population of the human (to perceive)--that
(humanity is) they're from 'out there'...the human race is from the
Galaxy.

...And this is what I'm saying, I'm bringing this point out here--
that it's nice to follow a evolutionary type of theme, it has
answers in it that are important to the overall riddle, I'm sure of
that...however, one must also keep in mind, that that doesn't
necessarily mean just because there are some 'missing links' (hinted
at) in some of the evolution-theory that are important, that all of
the theory is the exact thing. One must keep their visionary open
to the fact, that common-sense tells any human being, no matter what
educational background they have--when they look into the night sky
and see what's going on out there, when they take a pair of
binoculars and look, they even see that much more; so they begin to
realize that 'they came from there'...

Somehow the human race has been placed on planet Earth, and this
leads to the line of analogies that I've put on all of these tapes,
that the human race came/is part of the Galaxy, the Milky-Way Galaxy,
they're part of it...they're on a planet Earth, there's a riddle to
understand, because all the ancient myths of every different Nation
of the human-race on the planet--in their mythology they always
point towards a very similar, a very parallel...they're all
paralleled (the myths), they're all linked into a very similar-riddle
of what happened; 'the beginning of the beginnings', always point
to the same stories. You'll find stories of the Flood of the Earth
in a whole bunch of other mythologies, and why is this, and why has
it (parallel similarities of global myths) existed for such a long
period--so many thousands of years.

And when one looks through the...another point here...when one looks
through the history of the human race and all the warring, and
killing, and brutalizing of so many different things throughout
history, one begins to realize that there's some kind of a
'destructive force' also that has come here to this planet Earth.

Something that in my mind as I look at it, and see all of the
little-twists to a lot of things in historical documentation, and
then I look in present time with all the massive amounts of technical
availability of things, and see the censorship that's interweaved
in it...and I look through some of the history, contemporary history
of this century, and see the censorship that is placed in a multitude
of different areas on Peoples, on Nations, on cities even, on
political systems, and religious systems. When I look at all that,
I begin to realize that the 'destructive force 'that came to this
planet, not only likes to destroy a lot of things, and hold a race
back from discovering an important riddle to themselves, to their
species...but it also likes to censor and hide a lot of things too--
to keep them (the humans) from learning about their true self, their
complete-self, from learning about who they are, why they're here,
where they came from, their purpose while they're here, where they're
going from here when this phase is completed, or when it's ended.

This is I know...maybe (could) sound as though it's kind of
different than what the average norm of analogies in this area
sound like, but the point I'm making here is that, I know within
myself that the human race is/was never basically a brutal race...
that it is inundated with some sort of a energy system, energy
source that's destructive, and what we see in the war and the brutal
history is a reflection of that destructive force and its effect
upon the human race...they're (the humans) reflecting-back what's
being put into them. And a lot of what's being put into them, they
follow because they are ignorant, and have been surrounded with all
kinds of censored information--information that they're supposed to
have (uncensored).

Anyway...moving on to Rome. The capital of Rome, the city has a
river, the Tiber River that runs through it, and basically Rome is on
a peninsula type of land, with the huge island of Sicily just
southwest of it. The Romans believed that their Empire only came
together with the help of the Gods. And that the Gods 'always
rewarded them with military victories'. The Imperial conquests of
Rome absorbed the Gods of other conquered peoples, they absorbed
those Gods also into their society. That's where/how the Greek
influences came to Rome.

In the late 60's I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a month
in Europe, in August, and during that period of time, I spent some
of it in Rome, and also a couple weeks up at Florence, in northern
Rome (Italy)...I was studying the...I wanted to study the great
Artist of the Renaissance Rome...and so I went there to visit the
places of where they (those famous Artist) were born, to see the
countryside, the landscape, what was there now, and look at their
artwork at the same time.

Anyway, while I was in Rome, I took a tour, it was a very interesting
tour, with a very young Italian man who drove a small van with only
about 6-individuals in it, including myself. We were kind of...this
all came together by itself, whoever was there...I mean it wasn't
planned or anything; I bought a ticket for a tour with this company,
and when I got there, these individuals were there. It was quite a
cross-section of...there was one man there that was from...there
was a man there that was professor of a University in the United
States, that had spent the summer in N. Africa and from that point
was heading back to the States. There was a woman there that had
a high position in the United Nations, I think there was a couple
in there, a husband and wife, and an older man, I don't remember his
background.

But anyway, the guide was a young Italian man, a very...he was very
quick minded, and very open, and a nice individual, he was an
excellent tour guide. And we took off and went to Tivoli, a place
where there were a lot of fountains...these locations, if anyone's
been to Italy, (they) will know about them, I'm not going to spend
time on this tape talking about that part. But anyway, the point
I'm bringing out here.

We ended up on our way back to Rome, in the afternoon--we stopped
at one ruins that was the summer home of Nero and the Emperor's,
where they went during the summer...it had hot-springs there that
were made into baths/bathing areas and everything...and we had a
conversation while we were at that location; there were still mosaic's
that were on the ground, of some of/at the different areas there...and
anyway, we had this discussion about Greece, the Greek influence on
Rome, through their artwork, culture, and their mythologies. And
there was quite a bit of debate, I sort of sat back, I don't
remember the detail of it all, but I remember exactly what our
Italian tour-guide said.

He said that, "it was the Greek influence upon the Roman Empire,
that destroyed the Roman Empire". Isn't that interesting. He was
very excited about this particular point, I mean, he showed a lot of
emotion in his expression when he did say it!

And you see this is a point...the reason I mentioned it is because
it fits into the fact that the Imperial Rome absorbed from their
conquered peoples, their Gods...and how one individual from that
area of the world said, that it was from doing that kind of a thing,
'that it destroyed the Roman Empire'. And this is a point that I
think is important to keep in mind as one traverses their spiritual
development, their emotional maturity development. That they're
going to gather up a lot of things that come from different areas,
and that some of those things can hold them back, if they haven't
reached a level of spiritual development that those things are meant
for.

I have an extensive series on Greece and the mythology of Greece, and
in that/there are some expressions that I placed there that said that
the entire Greek mythology was a very, extremely sophisticated and
elevated mythology, that dealt with a very high level of spiritual
development.

And the point here is that, the Roman's didn't have that high-level,
because of the foundation upon which they conquered and brutalized,
the warring involved in their Nation; a Nation of Conquests. And
that they hadn't raised their spirituality to a higher level, thus,
when they took in the Gods and the mythologies of Greece, which was
designed, which was very highly designed--it actually helped to
destroy them (the Romans), because they weren't ready for it; they
overlooked those points.

And this same principle can be applied to present day, the present
day-world. You see, in science and technology...you see, 'if you
don't bring the spiritual level up of the people, if you don't raise
their emotional maturity level so they can have a higher spiritual
level, and you induce them with things that demand that higher level,
and they don't have that higher level, what will you end up with...you
will ultimately destroy the entire society--you will bring it down!'
It will take some time perhaps, but it will happen.

This has been explained through so many examples in history, history
basically is a reference, it's a reference to everything that takes
place in the present and in the approaching future. When one does
not exactly know the path they're supposed to take to reach that
future...they look to references to become more aware of areas of
importance...and those references are always historical references.
Very few references in present time are acknowledged as references.

So one must look to history as a reference, and in history we can see
just from this simple discussion here about the Imperial absorption
of new Gods from conquered Peoples, and what a man said on a tour in
Italy in present time...that that is what caused it (the decline of
Rome), because Rome was not developed spiritually.

And you can see some of that in some of the outstanding points of
Roman history. When you look at a society that, from what's been
explained, a society that lived in luxuary, a society that
brutalized, liked to see killing, they built a beautiful Coliseum
for it, to be able to enact these things, they liked blood, they
liked to see people dying and tortured.

When one looks to that kind of thing, they realize that the
spiritual level is not developed very high, nor is the emotional
maturity level.

It's a wonder that Rome held together for 700yrs, it's basically...
it's quite a wonder, but it did, which goes to show you how some
things can...how the destructive-element that I talked about earlier
on this tape...how the 'destructive element' can hang on for a long
time.

Anyway...let's move on to some other points. Rome, a very large
conquest, they also eventually reached the area of mythology where
the Great Mother was believed in and recorded.

The Great Mother, the Goddess of birth and fertility; Cybele is the
Great Mother of Ancient Anatolia whose cult spread throughout the
whole Mediterranean. The Goddess Ishtar was the ancient Babylonian
and Assyrian Great Mother; Sumerian, she was Nana; Phoenician,
  Astarte; Egypt, Isis.  Anahita the Great Mother of Ancient Iran;
the Greeks identified Cybele with their Rhea, to be later fused with
Artemis and Aphrodite; the Romans identified her with Ops and Bona
  Dea, and later with Venus.

It says that,'the Great Mother was harder to incorporate within the
Roman traditions'. That's an interesting point, and I'm not going
to comment on it at this point; but I think someone else could look
in that direction...of why?

I remember when I was in Rome, during that time mentioned before here,
and I went down into the Roman Forum, walked around, it was late in
the day and kind of cool and nice from the hot August sun--and looked
around the place. The thought came to mind as I looked at the ruins,
'why wasn't it ever rebuilt, and re-established, why has the Italian
Nation left it just the way it is, why wasn't it rebuilt? They
certainly know what it looked like, they have models of it, why
haven't they ever rebuilt it...how come?

During the Empire, the forum was primarily the center of religious
and secular spectacles and ceremonies, the site of the city's most
  imposing temples/monuments.

Is there a fear that maybe they'll all of a sudden come back to life--
another view too is, maybe they're just an illusion placed here. I
mean, there's a lot of different ways a person could look at it.

You see, what would happen if all these...if every culture in the
world, if their ancient temples suddenly were brought back to the
exact point they were when they were completed...what would happen,
what effect would that have on the structure of the planet and the
races...would there be more warring?

I mean, I don't know...or would there be a raise in spirituality?
You know, this is just a side-point, a hypothetical analogy which I
know there are no answers too (unless restoration takes place), but
it can be thought about...it's an area that can be looked into by
individuals who study those things.

...I think that it may create upheavels, but I think it also may
point out something about this hidden 'destructive force' that is so
sly and clever in how it has moved along through every culture on
the planet. It would probably show us something about that--
something that it doesn't want to see (or have shown openly).

It wants to show us...it wants to show historically the human race--
of what was and that's all...it's a form of historical censorship
basically...this censorship is an area that I don't want to spend
a lot of time with on this tape, but it's an area that isn't anything
new. This censorship thing has been around for a long time. Fact is,
it has some friends, censorship does...it has friends...domination is
a friend of censorship, tyranny is a friend of censorship, pride is a
friend of censorship.

Okay...moving on to Gods and Goddesses. The borrowed Household Gods
and civic virtues--Venus, the Goddess of Love was associated and
came from the Goddess Aphrodite in Greek mythology (as Venus) the
daughter of Jupiter. Jupiter, taken from the Greek mythology of the
God of Zeus. A lot of name-changing will be found in the Greek and
Roman parallel's. Jupiter for Zeus, Venus for Aphrodite...(and)
there's quite a thing here...'Apollo' for some reason retained the
same name, 'isn't that interesting'.

...I think that there's a great possibility that what is seen in the
history of Rome...I think that when the Monarchy was established
somewhere around 750BC, and the foundation of Rome, the city, I think
that for 200yrs there was something there that was extremely,
probably extremely different than what one found after those periods.

I think it was a kind of a new beginning of something, I think that
the concept of the founders of the City of Rome and what it turned
into after 700yrs, I think their concept, their idea of what they
wanted there, what they hoped to see grow, I think it was quite
different than what we see 500 or 700yrs later. I think that if
that/this point isn't looked into, there's going to be something
really missed in it all...

And it also is an example of what happens when someone comes up with
and establishes a direction that is good, and that it is one that
will be of high regard in accomplishment, spiritually, and
emotionally, etc.. I think that as soon as it becomes
institutionalized, it acquires all kinds of destructive-elements
that are interwoven in all different ways, and eventually what
happens is--what it started out to be, turns into something else.
I think one can see it in all the countries, Nations of the world,
and also as they look through some of the different Religions.

Men into Gods...among the Roman Gods were some who started life.
They started it as mortals, Romulus was founder of Rome, and was
supposedly Deified at his death, becoming the God Quirinus...he was
said (Romulus) to have 'mysteriously vanished' and then to have
appeared in a dream to one of his citizens, explaining 'that he had
been abducted to join the Gods', thus, he was Deified; supposedly
Deified at his death, because he vanished, mysteriously vanished.
And of course later on, the Roman Senate, the Emperor's, were
Deified into Gods, after their death also...even some of their wives
and children (were Deified).

Romulus, first king of Rome 753-716BC; it was said he was chosen
to found a new city, by bird omens.

Some of their (Roman) artwork is extremely good, very polished and
smooth, realistic. This is a big point here that I want to bring
out also--is that 'location' is extremely important...it seems to be
more important than the race that lives there...it seems to be the
energy factor that brings these things out... So, I think what one
must strive to do, is look into the fact (from the result of Roman
conquests), of...this is what happened to parallel mythologies that
were taken to that location of Rome on the planet Earth; this is
another 'variation' (example); this shows what another 'energy
content and portal' will produce also (or its variation-effect).

Cultural-manipulation, has never worked to produce something
lasting and original...that type of hybrid-effect only serves
to weaken or dilute something perfectly original. The taking
of cultural works, or the copying of styles from other locations
on the planet, has caused nothing but havoc and chaos to both
Nations involved. A creative work, is the result of the location
where it was created, and to move it to another location on the
planet, only allows for continued conflict, discontent, confusion,
  insincerity, mayhem, disregard, warring, etc..

When I was in Rome, I noticed that the artistic spirit was present,
the energy was there in many ways. And as one looks at the Roman
artwork, they also should/would be able to have the same impression;
however, the features are a little bit different, the physical
features, and some of the symbolism's.

(The next point) And here we go with the Great Mother. The Deity of
the Great Mother was introduced into Rome as Magna Mater, borrowed
from Asia Minor in 204BC. This brings in that area of Asia Minor
again, in Turkey, that I talked about on the Greek tape, of a whole
series of men born in that location, during a certain period of
time...(they) established a foundation I felt of learning for the
entire Caucasian race. And here Rome introduced the Great Mother,
that/who came from that area. And in the 1st century BC, there was
a poet called Ovid, he wrote quite a few interesting things, was
quite a writer, there's quite a bit of his material still existing;
and he was also exiled for writing some of the things he did...they
didn't kill him, but they sure censored him.

  Ovid, Latin name, Publius Ovidius Naso, born at Sulm, Italy, 43BC;
died 18AD at Tomi (now Constanta), near the Black Sea. Roman poet,
a influential and leading writer of the Augustan age; he lived in
Rome and was later exiled for 'unknown causes'; it is said the
'causes' could have stemmed--because of the effects of his writing,
or perhaps because of an intrigue which became known to certain
powerful individuals. On unrevealed charges of immorality, the
Emperor Augustus banished him in 8AD to Tomis, a remote corner of
the Empire on the Black Sea, where he continued to write a multitude
  of things, notably the 'Tristia' (Sorrows).  Ovid was a provincial;
born 90miles east of Rome, a small town, and he writes
affectionately of the green and pleasant fields of his native land.
He had the best teachers of the day, in art, literature, and fluent
extempore (off the top 'empathic') speaking on any subject. His
most outstanding works were elegies, and poems on mythological
subjects, 'Metamorphoses, Fasti, Ars Amatoria (the Art of Love),
Heroides, and Amores'. His poem series, Loves (Amores), were
published in intervals of 5-books. A poem that came later, The Art
of Love, was to become linked to his exile as also the 'Cure of
Love', which came later and didn't help that situation. One must
realize the natural expression he had reached, the fine-tuning
involved...the 'Letters from Heroines', is a series of clever,
though perhaps boring lines in some areas, but the material is
mythological and becomes linked to the Metamorphoses. Ovid was
recognized as a leading 'living poet' of Rome; he had 3-marrages,
the 3rd to a woman of importance, of a noble family. His tragedy
'Media' has been lost, yet it was praised by Quintilian (the critic)
and Tacitus (the historian), and was an influence on the plays of
Seneca. His banishment and death to Tomis, didn't deprive him of
his citizenship nor property, nor was he forbidden to write poetry
or to communicate with family or friends; yet his books were
removed from the public library. Clearly during his exile, Ovid
was 'unsafe to know', and until the death of Augustus, his poetry
was circulated only privately. Such was the result of perhaps a
summer intrigue...actually, this all appears (exile) to be a
conglomerate of needless censorship...and also that there was a
  perceptiveness unrecognized.

He wrote some of the things about the Great Mother. 'The Great
Mother', he says, "the Mother is absent, seek the Mother, when she
comes, she must be received by 'clean hands, pure hands', fetch the
Mother of the Gods who is to be found on Mount Ida".

This is another example of a visionary, Ovid, trying to establish the
concept of 'search', find...the Mother is absent, seek the Mother;
'the missing link is absent, find the missing-link'; it's the same
basic...
