Mike Remlinger, a key component of the 1999 Atlanta Braves bullpen, was re-signed on Wednesday
afternoon to a two-year contract extension.
The team has a club option for a third year, if they choose to exercise it.
The 33-year old Remlinger was 10-1 with 1 save and a 2.37 ERA out of the Braves bullpen. Despite
spending the first 15 days of the season on the disabled list with a slight muscle pull,
Remlinger put together one of the most solid relief seasons in recent Braves history.
The contract slates Mike to earn 1.4 million dollars in 2000, 1.6 million in 2001, and 2
million in 2002. If the team chooses, the third year can be bought out for 200,000 dollars.
After being acquired along with Bret Boone from Cincinnati in October of 1998 for Denny
Neagle, Michael Tucker, and Robbie Bell, Remlinger signed a 1-year deal with Atlanta that
paid him 1.1 million dollars.
