Jade woke the morning of her birthday with an unnatural feeling of disappointment. Her dream had been wonderful, her asking Taylor out, Taylor kissing her, but it had turned into a nightmare when she burst into tears. Maybe it was good that she had woken up then! The problem was, it was only a dream. Jade hoped to soon make it a reality!

She quickly got dressed. She was wearing her favourite outfit, a pair of black velvet pants that flared out slightly at the knee, a lime silk shirt, covered by a larger black silk shirt! She looked just like her idol, Alanis Morissette!

After brushing her hair, and applying lip gloss and moisturizer, she was just about to go in and see her dad, when she saw something on her desk. It was a small parcel. Inside, with a bag of expensive chocolates there was a note. It said ‘Follow the Skittles!". Then she looked down and saw, about a meter apart from each other, skittles laid out in a trail, leading into the corridor!

Five minutes later she had arrived at the Hanson homestead. She knocked on the door. "Who is it?" called a voice Jade recognised as Isaac’s.

"It’s me, Jade!" she called back, rather loudly. He opened the door for her, and quick as a flash he was back in the lounge room. Jade didn’t even notice, she was down on the ground looking for more Skittles! Eventually she found the path again, and followed it into the Hansons living room.

"SURPRISE!!!" came a loud cry, and suddenly the whole Hanson family and her father popped out from among the various pieces of furniture!

"I love you, man!" shrieked Zac, and he jumped on top of her, sending them both falling onto the ground. Jade was hysterical with laughing, and tears were running down her face.

"You guys did this for me?" she asked.

"It was Taylor’s idea, if you know what I mean!" said Diana. Jade knew what Diana mean, and even though it was embarrassing, Jade sensed that Diana was enjoying it, probably bringing her back to her own childhood. Jade winked at Diana, and Taylor blushed.

Mackie, Jessie and Avery then each picked up a present and put them on Jades lap. Jade was still sitting on the floor. She knew very well that these were all for her, but she asked anyway.

"Of course, go on, open them." replied her dad.

Diana and Walker gave her a short, but stylish, green crushed velvet dress. It accented her red hair, and set off her model-like assets perfectly. She hugged them both for it.

"You’ll be needing it soon enough." Said Walker. Jade noticed the excitement in his voice, and there was a squeal from Zac, and a muffled laughter from everyone else. Jade sensed something just a bit fishy.

The three youngest Hansons gave her an assortment of handmade things, including a collage of photos of her with the Hanson boys at their various concerts and ‘outings,’ plus photos of her with her dad, her by herself, and her with them. It was on cardboard, and framed, and even though Jade knew that their parents had helped them, she gave them all a big hug, kiss and thank you.
