Reion and his brother Sirku are not actually related to the Sensei. Their parents, originally goverment officials, one day vanished without a trace. Reion, unlike his younger brother, had been home sick on the day his parents vanished, and suffers from amnesia as to what happened to him on that day -- so far, only the Sensei has been powerful enough to break past that barrier in his mind, and he refused to tell Reion what he saw there. Reion is 'cursed'... Whisper, a powerful dark god who controls Secret Blade, noticed the Sensei switch sides from the Neutrals' to Hikari's (Whisper's arch-nemesis, the light god who bestows superhero powers on people during times of danger), and has been sending people to attack the temple under various reasons. Worse for Reion's future, Reion is, unknowingly, the symbol in the first part of a prophecy, 'He who gathers the lights', which is why Whisper sent someone to deal with Reion's parents in the first place. Now that Reion is the heir to the temple, he is in grave danger. He knows he's at risk, though not to what extent, which is his main reason for holding Doink at arm's length.
