Sera is actually Seraphim. That's right, Seraphim is a woman. The main reason Third gave a contradicting series of answers when asked about Seraphim was that they kept referring to Seraphim as 'he'.
Doink: Have you met Seraphim?
Third: Yes.
Doink: Who is he?
Third: Who?
Doink: Seraphim. Who is he?
Third: I don't know him.

Although Third knows who Seraphim really is, he has been told that the person it sees is 'Sera Leuwellin' but the person he hears on the phone is 'Seraphim'. But it's the fact that Sera's Seraphim that it still follows her orders over Ranith's.

Sera was once actually one of the Seraphim, Sekel, oddly enough. But she fell when she stopped to listen to Whisper, and, embittered against her own kind for casting her out when she started proclaiming his words, she took their name to spite them.

Seraphim needs some kind of guidance, something to believe in, and that something is Whisper. With nothing else to her, she believes in his evil and is trying to destroy all obsticles to his domination -- that is to say, anyone Hikari chooses to counter Whisper's evil. Currently, seeing the party's power, she'd rather slowly convert them over, but if necessary, will just try to destroy them through dissent or brute power.

She runs Secret Blade and controls Third, Kunzite, Zoicite, and Yukai. She is to be the main villain of 'Season One'.
