The NetSF design project, a mailing
list based forum, was the brainchild of James Arendt. We talked about
lots of things but the whole thing petered out due to everyone's schedules.
It was intended as a brainstorm session to create a non-game system specific
SFRPG background.
I took to the whole thing like a duck
to water. If you read the mailing list archives, you will notice that I
seem to take center stage. But truth be told, I couldn't have done it without
stimulation and input from various other contributors.
We talked a lot about technology,
future history, expansion, and colonization. We intended to talk about
other things, like alien species, et al., but didn't get that far before
the whole list disintegrated.
It was in the NetSF forum that I developed
some of my more long-standing ideas, such as the guild government and the
Q-drive.
Long after the NetSF list was defunct,
James and I batted around a few more ideas, mostly on technology and government.
