The above is a quick map of Tai and
its various districts. This, along with the section
detailing Tai on the Sword Isles description
page, should give you a little better idea of what the city is like.
As is casual to the most obvious observer
of the above map, there are 7 major districts of the city: The Harbor and
Warehouse District, the Mixed Residences (i.e., residences of the free
lower class), the Common and Market District (where most shops and markets
can be found as well as common merchants), the Company District (where
most of the companies of Tai are garrisoned, as well as most fighting schools),
the Temple District (where all the major temples are - duh!), the Civic
District (where most of the buildings used by the city's administration
and guards are), and the Highborn District (home to the upper class).
Some notable places:
-
The "Fool's Market" - Where the tower of the mad mage Jahawarial
once stood, there is now a market of the poorer peddlars in Tai. It is
situated to the west of the "C" in "Common" above, right in the corner
where the Common and Market District meets the Mixed Residences.
-
The "Traingle" - Any portion of the Harbor / Warehouse District
might be described as the "Red Light District" of Tai. However, the thickest
hive of brothels, gambling dens, and other seedy establishments is the
triangular block called "The Triangle." It is the traingle shaped block
on the south end of the Harbor / Warehouse District where it is - unsurprisingly
- close to both the Mixed Residences and the Company District.
This page is still an experiment.
I found a better "silk" GIF to use for the background for the "campaign
journal" page when it is born. Do you like it? Let
me know.
