Swashbuckling Adventure in the wild South Seas
region of Trinalia!
Shown at right is a simple map of the Sword
Isles, a group of islands off of the southern coast of the continent of
Trinalia and starting place for the upcoming South Seas Campaign.
Welcome to the Sword Isles, the setting of the next
campaign set in my AD&D game world. After much work, I have finally
finished the South Seas Campaign Supplument. This document contains
all the essential information for making characters for the South Seas
Campaign, including an introductory text on the area, new rules for
races and kits, notes on experience awards that will reward those who exemplify
the "swashbuckling feel" of the campaign, new weapon and nonweapon proficiencies,
rules on dueling combat, combat styles, and the mysterious sectret passes
of the fighting schools of Tai.
I have the HTMLized version for easy viewing, and
an RTF version for easy downloading, and a Word Perfect format, which isn't
as universal as the rtf version but much prettier and cleaner formatted
if you have a real Word Processor. ;-)
What Else is Here?
Funny you should ask. Naturally, anything else you might
need to get started in the South Seas Campaign (well, except the books
and imagination, of course.) Mainly, I've linked to the campaign rules
from the Hand of Darkness campaign concerning aging and experience as we
will be using them here. If your making a priest character, you'll want
to check out the Priests & Powers of Trinalia (sorry, no HTML yet.)
And I've made an online version of the Ten Questions. I would like everyone
to think about their character's background and try to answer them. If
possible, send me an email copy.
Summary of changes to the South Seas Campaign Supplement:
• Added the cartography proficiency
• Added the fighter/psionicist multi-class to female viscosians.
• Swashbucklers only get a fighter's THAC0 while using the dueling
rules with their weapon of choice; otherwise they only get the +1 bonus
for weapon of choice. (Moral: you can't duel with a snake).
• Added guidelines for swashbuckling combat (including the cloak WP).
• Changed the save against passes from "save vs. paralyzation at -1
per level of attacker over victim" to "level based save vs. paralyzation"
(from the high level campaigns book.)
• Clarified that the dueling proficiency is not the same as the dueling
lore proficiency.
• Clarified the use of bonuses in dueling styles and the combining
dueling styles.
• Clarified speed requirements for weapons used by dueling styles.
Summary of changes to the Priests and Power of Trinalia:
• Added Ramzu (Power of Dueling and Personal Honor.)
• Added Laren (Patron Deity of the Sword Isles.)
