The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (East Region), 2nd November 2002

Homerton College, Cambridge University

Paul and Margaret of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, East Region, hosted another class of young Teachers as they enthusiastically participate in Emergency Life Support training provided by Ted Branch, Frank White and Paul Knighton of Heartstart Thurrock, Essex.

Training included all the standard elements of the Heartstart Essential Life Support (ELS) Course:

as well as discussing concerns from Students about conditions that they as Leaders could encounter when taking a group on camp in the Countryside, e.g. Medication, Extremes of Temperature, Asthma, Hyperventilation, Epileptic Seizures, Anaphylactic Shock, and Diabetes.

- unfortunately his belligerent behaviour is not considered 'out of the ordinary'.

- reinforcing need to treat Shock quickly.
