The "Family Picnic in The Park" is a free meal and potluck dinner with musical accompianment and spiritual prayer; yet dictating no doctrine or specific religion. Taking place on Saturday evenings; from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on the South lawn in Boulder, Colorado's; Central Park.

Established July 11, 1998 by Rev. Jahn Kefa; founder of Hand-to-Mouth Ministries. The event attracts about 50 people a week. It began on rainy weekends when we could not sit down in the park for several weeks; so we huddled together in the Bandshell and dished out soggy bowls while we sang songs with acoustic guitar's. The Police countinuously chased us out of the Bandshell; it must be rented for $150.00 daily if you want to be in it; even to keep dry. Spirits and morale were quite low then but picked up in August when we finally obtained the picnic atmosphere we were looking for when the sun returned. Yet our venue of musicians dwindelled.

A collaboration of ministries take part in contributing money, food, time, and energy; to serving food both spiritual and nutritional to those who are hungry on the streets regardless of age, race, addiction, homelessness, residency, drunkeness, or Vietnam or WWII war veteran. We lift all discrimination when we sit together in a circle around geometric tapestries covered with pots and pans full of delicious morsels of gourmet street slop.

"Hand-to-Mouth Ministries" has volunteered responsibility for liability, and has parented the event; contributing most of the money to purchase the ingredients.

We would like to thank everybody who made this miraculous feat possible; especially those who came to be nourished in both edible food, and the warmth of brotherhood, friends and family.

Special Thanks to Rev. Otilia H. Wilkie and Rev. Jahn Kefa for the most creative dishes prepared in their Co-Op kitchen.

"Community Table" - a project of the interfaith council, here in Boulder; contributes a good supplement of prepared food to the meal.

Special thanks to "Sally" Susan Kelly for an active part in delivering half of the meal to the park and contributing in the serving and sharing the food. Sally became the lead facilitator of the Picnic for the next two years, eventually doing it solo. She was unable to keep it going because we couldn't get volunteers and donations for 2001.

Special thanks to Paul Leal for hosting the Last two Picnics before the ill-fated finale'; and for his help in obtaining food and gathering hungry people.

Special thanks to Steve Rohrbach coordinator of "Community Table" and Directors Board coordinator of the interfaith council in Boulder; for contributing the leftovers and unused food from their free kitchen to be utilized and not wasted; and for their A NO.1 free dinners three times a week: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. promptly.

Congregants frequenting the evangelical superchurch: "The Vinyard" on the border of Gunbarrel and Longmont farmlands; have contributed their efforts of collecting in kind donations, preparing some in their own kitchens; and help serve and share the food at the picnic.

Special thanks to Beverly Turner - Christian Street Outreach Counselor; for the use of her car, blankets and cooking skills and bringing Jesus' Love into the hearts of all attendies. Special thanks to Debbie Padilla for arranging contributions of magnificent italian food from Pasta Jay's Restaurant; and thanks to chefs: Mary & Noodle Eric and Pasta Jay himself.

The "Picnic" may last until November 1st, 1998 when the Lamb's Lunch launches its season at the First Presbyterian Church Annex; on 15th & Walnut. Saturday's at 12:30 p.m.

Special thanks to Brenda - Lamb's Lunch coordinator & Street Outreach Coordinator for the "Vinyard" for her efforts in the community and for her moral support for what we are doing.

Let us not forget to mention to thank the Hardcore Boys of the "Food Not Bombs" lunch on Sundays in Central Park at 4:00 p.m. for being one of the elements to the Boulder foodchain.

We would also like to acknowledge "Downtown Providers"; a series of downtown churches who rotate the responsibility of preparing Sunday Brunches at 12:30 p.m. at their prospective churches.
