In Memory Of
Jay Snethen

December 11, 1962-March 31, 2003
Jay's pictured receiving the Overall Outstanding President Award from Lee Dunn.

We recently lost a true friend in our Jaycee family. Jay Snethen was killed in a car accident on Monday, March 31. Jay was instrumental in reorganizing the Humboldt Area Jaycees in 1996 after several years of the Jaycees being absent in the Humboldt community. A few awards that Jay received through the years was the 1997 Overall Outstanding President Award and he and his wife Kris were the OYF candidates in 1999. Jay recently aged out of the Jaycees and the Humboldt Jaycees presented Jay and Kris with a plaque thanking them for all of the service that they did for the Jaycees through the years.

Reprinted Below is Jay's Final Letter As Humboldt Jaycee President This Letter Represents Jay's Devotion & Dedication That He Had For The Jaycees

I would like to thank all of you for the opportunity to be President of the Humboldt Area Jaycees. I had help from many people in this great organization of ours. If there is one thing I could pass along, it would be that team work is the key to success in our organization. I had fun this last year and learned a lot along the way. I would like to thank everyone again for all your help throughout the year (you know who you are). Special thanks to Jeff Domino and Dave Mundt, for there knowledge and insight with the Jaycees. I would also like to extend a special thanks to my wife, Kris, for all her support. I would like to say this to all Jaycees: "Do all that you can do for your chapter without devoting your whole life to Jaycees. At the end of the year if you can say this organization is better now from my involvement, then you have been successful at your task, and you will probably feel pretty good about what you have accomplished. We have a nice community and a lot of good people are in it. The community and you are to benefit from the Jaycee movement. So please get involved, not just for the community, but for the personal growth of learning and growing as an individual.

Sincerely,
Jay H. Snethen
