Bunnicula:
A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery
written by Deborah
Howe and James
Howe.
This is not only a delightful tale, it is an award winning
book. It iwas voted the winner of the Sequoyah Award by the
school children of Oklahoma in 1982.
Howard and Chester are a dog and cat. Easy going Howard is a
perfect balance to Chester's hyperactive and imaginative
restlessness. Chesters restlessness is triggered by the arrival
of a new family member found on a seat in a movie theater. The
Monroe family had gone to see Dracula and discovered a rabbit
lovingly wrapped up with a note in an ancient Romanian language
(Howard recognizes the language because it is in his background.)
Chester becomes suspicious of the little fellow and begins to
educate himself about vampires. He feels his suspicions justified
when the vegetables in the refrigerator began to turn white
overnight ... and while there is never any firm proof that
Bunnicula is a bunny vampire, things really point suspiciously in
that direction.
This fictional spoof of the vampire legend provides
amusement and gentle suspense as Chester pursues his goal to
reveal Bunnicula as a vampire.
