Charles Lucier (Lussier) was born in Saint Hyacinth, Quebec. He married Ellen Labor Lucier (Hélène Labarre-Genest), who was born October 07, 1827 in Notre Dame du Rosaire, Quebec, the daughter of Eustache Genest dit Labarre and Marie-Julie Methot. They had 12 children, Gilbert Charles, Thomas, E. Fred, Maryetta, Oscar F., George, Louisa, Julia Ann, Charles Abraham, Mary E., Walter Wallace and Cora Ella.

Charles and Ellen, emigrated from Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada, to Enosburg, Vermont around 1849. In 1854 the family moved to Medina, Ohio. In 1856 they moved back to Enosburg where they lived until the spring of 1860, at which time they moved permanently to Jay, Vermont.

It appears that most of the Lucier's were farmers. Child's Gazetteer of Lamoille and Orleans Counties, 1883-1884 show Charles Lucier has a sugar orchard with 1000 trees, a dairy of 14 cows, breeds grade Jersey cattle and is a farmer with 200 acres. His sons are also listed: Gilbert being a town representative, lumberman and farmer with 50 acres, George L. a lumberman and farmer with 37 acres, and Charles Abraham a farmer with 25 acres.
