THE BEST BAND TO EVER GRACE THE MUSIC WORLD! THE DOORS! Jim Morrison was considered a genius(IQ=43). He first attended college in Miami but went against his parents wishes and transfered to UCLA. He majored in film/cinematography. There he met Raymond Manzerek. Ray admired Jim for his wittiness and the way Jim structured things. For Jim was an extremely sexual person and focused on the reaction of crowds. That is the reason for his actions, just to see how people would react. Jim got an apartment on Venice Beach and eventually moved in with Manzerek. Manzerek who was presently in a band with his brothers wrote music with Jim. Ray knew of an awesome percussionist by the name of John Densmore(he met him in a meditation class). This was the begining of the Doors..or was it? OH! by the way, the name "The Doors" comes from Aldous Huxley's book The Doors of Perception, Heaven and Hell. "if the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it trulyis, infinite". I After Columbia signed Morrison, Manzerek, Manzerek's 2 brothers, and Densmore(Rick and the Ravens or sumthin), the 2 Manzerek brothers got annoyed with the group, thought it was a waste and quit.(they biffed now didn't they?) Then the question "what is going to happen to the Doors now?" arose. After the Manzerek brothers quit, Jim, Ray, and John were still in for it. Ray once experienced the ever talented works of Robby Krieger. After one practice they knew Krieger was the man. What convinced them was his awesome, snakelike chords for "Moonlight Drive". Krieger was the one who wrote "Light My Fire" incase you were unaware. Well there is some history of the Doors. If you wanna know more, get up and go find it out. They are considered one of the most contraversial bands of all time and in my eyes The Best Band.
Jim has 2 younger siblings; Anne and Andy.
Jim's middle name was inspired for General Douglas McArthur.
Jim's dad was in the Navy and fought in WWII and wasn't home when Jim was born.
Robby Krieger wrote "Light My Fire".
John Densmore tried to quit but he wouldn't let himself give up his "art".
The cool producer at the Ed Sullivan Show(great show) wanted the line "girl we couldn't get much higher" omitted when performing "Light My Fire". The Doors agreed not to include it-Jim sang it anyway-the Doors never did Sullivan again.
The Doors were the first music group to get a huge billboard to promote an album.
On Jim's 27th(and last) birthday he went into the studio with some Jack Daniels, some friends and his poetry and recorded it.
After Jim died the remaining Doors made 3 albums, including Jim's poetry readings.
Both Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin died shortly after(months) the Miami trial for Jim ended.
Jim, Jimi Hendrix & Janis Joplin & Kurt Cobain all died at the age of 27.
Jim's 2 man dishes were Pamela Coursen(yea!) and Patricia Kennealy(hiss)
